bio-ecological and sustainable building
ECO-DESIGN designs projects based on bio-ecological principles: building concept and construction materials are applied in relation to the health of people and environment, according to the principle of the “third skin”. Integral design will also take into account natural lifecycles, as well as influences between people, building and surroundings. Thereby we strive for a minimum energy consumption. Also for utility building and rebuilding ECO-DESIGN will come up with and develop original, sustainable and healthy solutions and design. In every building project we will reach further then sustainable building only.

earth building
We have wide knowledge and experience in the field of the earth construction, acquired with construction projects at home and abroad. ECO-DESIGN offers, among other building techniques, the possibility to build with earth: modern approved earth building techniques allow us to build as sound and sustainable as possible. Earth building design offers many possibilities: traditional or modern, straight, round or sculptural design as well as beautiful warm colours. Earth can be applied both for building construction and rendering. It is available as building products such as earth bricks, plates and mortars. It is also possible to use earth excavated on the site as construction material, generally in combination with straw and wood. For the execution of earth building projects ECO-DESIGN can rely on a network of companies which are professionally engaged in earth construction.

Healthy building, living and working is strongly in development in the Netherlands. The natural material earth is nowadays more and more used as building material. Not only due to its biological properties, but also because of sustainability earth is considered as one of the most ideal construction materials. Earth ensures comfortable and healthy indoor climate. Since 1991 ECO-DESIGN is giving theoretical and practical courses and workshops on earth construction for private persons as well as professionals.

Bio-ecologisch en duurzaam bouwen
ECO-DESIGN biedt opdrachtgevers de mogelijkheid om projecten te realiseren op bio-ecologische grondslag: bouwconcept en -materialen worden toegepast in relatie tot de gezondheid van mens en (leef)milieu én volgens het principe van de “derde huid”. Verder wordt bij het ontwerpen ook rekening gehouden met de belevingsaspecten en invloeden tussen mens, gebouw en omgeving. Alle facetten van het bouwen en wonen worden op een duurzame wijze integraal aangepakt, waarbij zoveel mogelijk natuurlijke kringlopen in stand gehouden c.q. tot stand gebracht worden. Daarbij wordt gestreefd naar een minimaal energieverbruik. Ook bij utiliteitsbouw en verbouwingen worden door ECO-DESIGN originele, duurzame én gezonde oplossingen aangedragen en uitgewerkt. ECO-DESIGN streeft ernaar bij elk bouwproject verder te gaan dan het reguliere duurzaam bouwen.

Leembouw
Architect Sjap Holst beschikt ook over ruime kennis en gedegen (praktijk)ervaring op het gebied van de leembouw, opgedaan met bouwprojecten in binnen- en buitenland, zoals in België, Frankrijk, Italië en Latijns Amerika. ECO-DESIGN biedt opdrachtgevers de mogelijkheid om in leem te bouwen. Oude beproefde leembouwtechnieken in een moderne jas maken optimaal gezond en duurzaam bouwen mogelijk. Qua vormgeving biedt leem vele mogelijkheden: traditioneel tot modern, recht, rond, sculpturaal en in vele kleuren. Leem kan zowel voor ruwbouw als (wand)afwerking worden toegepast en is als bouwproduct in de vorm van leemstenen, platen en mortels verkrijgbaar. Ook kan (ter plekke) gedolven leem, meestal in combinatie met stro en hout, direct toegepast worden als bouwmateriaal. Hiervoor beschikt ECO-DESIGN over speciale machines om het werk te mechaniseren.

Gezond bouwen, wonen en werken is in Nederland sterk in ontwikkeling. Het natuurmateriaal leem neemt daarbij een steeds belangrijkere plaats in, want leem wordt niet alleen binnen de bouwbiologie, maar ook in het kader van duurzaam bouwen beschouwd als één van de meest ideale bouwmaterialen. Leem zorgt voor een aangenaam en gezond binnenklimaat. In de verschillende milieuclassificaties scoort leem op alle fronten zeer goed. Sinds 1991 geeft ECO-DESIGN ieder jaar een theorie- en praktijkcursus leembouw. Voor de uitvoering van leembouwprojecten beschikt ECO-DESIGN over een netwerk van bedrijven die professioneel met leembouw bezig zijn. Begeleiding bij (zelfbouw) leembouwprojecten behoort tot de mogelijkheden.
